More SEO Q&A

Oh my,

1.  Starting with the html: please copy and past into an email to me...these are "reciprocated link requests" and need to be put onto your site.  Not all of the sites require these, but some will.  I will discretely place these on your site (meaning they will not be readily visible), unless you want them to be visible.  If they ask what page to look for the html...let them know it will be on www.jacquehunter.com/backlinks

2.  Knowing what you have accomplished: almost NO search engine optimization (nor advertising) will give instant gratification.  It will, however (I promise promise you) pay off in time.

The one exception to this rule is the actual content (text) written in your site. Google, Bing, Yahoo (even though they claim not to) crawl your site content often and register the keywords written within your text.

I really want to encourage you to come up with some new stuff to write in your site.  Did you visit the Avon rep site I told you about?  She had some super ideas for content, I realize it is not the same industry but I see some stuff you can effectively make your own within the same ideals.

So, with the diligence I mentioned before, you will soon know what you have accomplished via your site stats.

3.  You have read pseudo-correctly about multiple submissions.  Your submissions will not be considered as literal spam, the 2nd and 3rd duplicate submissions will simply be rejected and the 1st will remain in it's spot (no worries unless you maliciously overwhelm the listing sites).

I really hope I helped, if I haven't answered your questions completely PLEASE point that out to me and I will keep on it :).  I am so proud of you, you are the first person who I have seen actually get after this and come back with specific questions- keep up the hard work!  You're doing well!!!!

OK, I've been reading.  Probably jumped in quicker than I should have. Your web page is a treasure chest of information and I clicked on several of the seo's on the page.  The first two or three I could handle...don't know how much good it did as it said it could take 6-8 weeks for listing if ever.  Like Google.  It was easy so I clicked on another one and got a spider crawling right away but the second step was picking a box and cutting and pasting.  I thought I can do that but then after choosing (blindly) I had HTML come up and I was supposed to paste it into my web page.  Uh Oh.  I stopped but then I got an e-mail saying the spider had already crawled.  My analylitics were up.  But since I skipped a step, I don't know what I accomplished.

My question...I read that if you over submit it can be considered as spam.  How do I know if one of the sites I clicked on submitted to more than one Search Engine and if I duplicated myself?  Such a learning curve.

Thanks for offering to submit my page on new discoveries...Jackie

As far as the paid advertisements go, I would take the time to know what you can get for how much. Each site/program is different, if it is not clearly evident why others are getting better coverage or bigger ads- I suggest you call or write the webmaster asking for clarification.

From looking at the analytics on my end, your site visits (the site I build you) are definitely on the rise.

Oct 08 Site Visits: 7
Nov 08 Site Visits: 4
Jan 09 Site Visits: 0
Feb 09 Site Visits: 18
Mar 09 Site Visits: 8
April 09 Site Visits: 8
May 09 Site Visits: 20
June 09 Site Visits: 52
July 09 Site Visits: 55
Aug 09 Site Visits: 60
Sept 09 Site Visits: 32

Also, you are getting significant response from Craigslist ads. Very little response from your WAHM ads. Other traffic you are getting is from people searching the term "uses for tea tree oil," this is great (it means you have good content).

A suggestion: I have, altogether, halted all of my paid ads since February. Instead, as an experiment, I have focused on the Search Engine Optimization end of generating traffic. To date, my visits have increased exponentially (in comparison to paid ads). I have updated my website to help people with their search engine optimization, you can see a lot of references on my site (in the left hand green menu) 1. 15 Minute SEO Articles; 2. SEO Tutorial; 3. Top 100 Free Web Directories; 4. Free backlink sites.

I know, at first, this will be a lot to take in... But after a little practice and determination to commit some time to this on a regular basis you will be excited about your results.

The before mentioned cover the topic of getting traffic to your site.

The other area of concern is actual conversion, getting folks to buy into your product/service. There are so many ways to go about this, but above all of the others is super content. I'm not a pro, as you know, with conversion on products. I would start by looking at other websites with similar goals, i.e. tupperware, avon, etc. Don't spend a lot of time doing this, just look at the ones that hit the top of google or yahoo when you search the terms. The ones on top are the ones "doing it right." Use their ideas for inspiration and make them your own. Have you seen http://www.northeasttexasavon.com? I designed this site, but I did not come up with the content (the site's owner did)...I found a lot of the content to be very intriguing.

Frustration will pass, customers will come all with dedication.

P.S. Keep putting your info (type in your www... addresses) on facebook and myspace - this will help more than you know.

Hi Christine, I need to chat with you as soon as you have some free time. I'm a little frustrated with my marketing efforts. I've been a lot more active lately but according to my CEO Mom Team analytics I'm advancing very little. My stats aren't flat but they are nothing near where I want to be.

I like the Ablewise site you sent to me but I'm still learning how to get the best bang for my buck. Compare my ad below to another ad on the same site. The other is much better even though I paid a small amount to upscale mine. I still have a button ad on a mom web site and I'm paying $20 a month for that. That may be what is keeping me off the bottom but I'm having no conversions from anything. I know there is a right way to do this, but I'm frustrated right now. I'm beginning to formulate some ideas....do you have any suggestions? It was neat getting to meet you on facebook....Jackie
